The goal of Men's Health Month, observed in June, is to raise awareness about health issues affecting men and encourage them to take charge of their health and overall well-being.
Men's Health Month naturally evolved from Men's Health Week, established in 1994, which takes place the entire week following Father's Day. This observance is similar to National Women's Health Week, which kicks off on Mother's Day.
National Men's Health Month is different from Movember, which happens every November and focuses specifically on men's mental health and prostate cancer. (And it's different from Prostate Cancer Awareness Month, which happens in September.)
In June, the focus is on the entirety of a guy's health (a daunting undertaking!).
For the purposes of this blog post, we're drilling down into topics relevant to urologic health.
We originally published this post on June 11, 2018. We reviewed and updated it in the spring of 2019, again in the fall of 2021, and now in the spring of 2025.
