Every December, our team likes to step back and reflect on the last 12 months at GBU. Below are some of the highlights.
We welcomed three new urologists, a physician assistant, and a nurse practitioner to the GBU family.
In January, Dr. Kevin Killeen joined our Hyannis Care Center. Dr. Killeen is a 1983 Tufts University School of Medicine graduate with a wealth of knowledge. He interned in surgery at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Boston and completed his residency training at Lahey Clinic in Burlington, Mass. Learn more about Dr. Killeen.
In May, Dr. Micah L. Hemani joined our Dedham Care Center. Born and raised in Newburyport, Dr. Hemani has been practicing general urology in the Boston metropolitan area for over a decade. He graduated from Yale University and the UMass Chan Medical School and completed his surgical and urology training at NYU Langone Medical Center in New York City. Learn more about Dr. Hemani.
At the end of the summer, Dr. Jonthan Li also joined the Hyannis Care Center. Originally from Lexington, Mass., Dr. Li earned a Bachelor of Science and Engineering with distinction from Duke University. He went on to the University of Michigan Medical School where he earned his medical degree and Master of Science in Clinical Research through the university medical and graduate schools. We also welcomed Victoria Webber, a full-time physician assistant, to our Plymouth Care Center. Stephanie Larrick, a women's health nurse practitioner, joined the Women's Health Center in Dedham and works closely with Dr. Angel Marie Johnson, the Director of Women's Health at GBU.

Whether hosting webinars, being interviewed by the press, or earning Centers of Excellence distinctions, our GBU physicians continue to impress as they share their knowledge and expertise.
Here are some highlights from the last year.
- Stephen Craig Gillard from our Plymouth Care Centeris now trained in Aquablation Therapy to treat benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). Note: If you're seeing another GBU urologist, but you're interested in Aquablation, Dr. Gillard can perform the therapy. You'd then return to your GBU urologist.
- GBU now offers focal cryotherapy for prostate cancer. Our Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Michael Geffin, explains focal cryotherapy in this blog post.
- In 2022, Angel Marie Johnson was named a Center of Excellence for Axonics. In 2023, she achieved the Bulkamid Center of Excellence. Dr. Johnson also became the first physician in Massachusetts to implant eCoin for the treatment of urinary incontinence.
We had a great day for the ZERO Prostate Cancer Run/Walk.
In 2023, Team GBU raised over $9,000, and the Boston race raised over $127K. Learn more about this important event by watching the video below.

In case you missed this news from 2022 . . .
We relocated our Plymouth Care Center from 51 Obery Street to 45 Home Depot Drive.
Our new location at 45 Home Drive in Plymouth offers so many benefits to our patients and staff alike:
- One-level—no stairs, no ramps
- Plenty of parking
- Much bigger space—we went from 3,500 square feet to 10,000
- Eleven exam rooms, six procedure rooms, and two ultrasound rooms
- Three full-time urologists, a full-time urogynecologist, and a full-time nurse practitioner, physician assistant, and sonographer
We offer interventional radiology in Plymouth, Mass.
Last fall, we opened the Interventional Radiology Centers at Greater Boston Urology at the site of our former Plymouth Care Center at 51 Obery Street. Right now, eligible GBU patients can receive interventional radiology (IR) treatments (such as prostate artery embolization or PAE) in our Obery Street office. Dr. Hesham Hafeez Malik serves as our full-time interventional radiologist.
Interventional radiology (IR) is minimally invasive and doesn't require anesthesia. Recovery times are a lot quicker, too. Read more about interventional radiology in this article.

Next year marks our tenth anniversary as the local sponsor of the ZERO Prostate Cancer Run/Walk in Boston. We look forward to making 2024 our best fundraising year yet for this important cause.
